What do Agent Katsudon, Agent Yeni Raki,The Countess Vodcula, The Albatross, The Sicilian, The Chef de Cuisine, Mr. Bernard, Agent Bobcat, The Buddha and the « WAH » have in common ? They all belong to a mysterious fraternity of darkly bespectacled agents and clandestine radio/signal operators who navigate a maze of shifting loyalties and alliances while risking their lives in sensational car chases. They send encrypted messages into the foggy ether of the night sky and then have a savory snack baked in a concealed kitchen, embedded with a piece of micro-film alluding to future covert affairs. Allies could potentially be enemies. Loyalty is bought, betrayal is a way of life and in Paris there are often several ways to look at things…

The book displays a close up of a human brain with layers of memory and dreams visualized through a method of psychoanalysis and pharmacological propaganda.

It is composed of two scientific researches that investigated the theme of memory and psychoanalysis. The first photos ever realized of sections of the human brain by psychiatric G. Jelgersma at the University of Leiden (1908-1911) are paired with the transcript of narcoanalytic sessions conducted by the controversial psychiatrist Prof. Jan Bastiaans at the end of the 1980's. He used LSD as well as Pentothal, also known as the “truth serum” in the therapy of patients traumatized from the Second World War. The book covers also the interest of the pharmaceutical industry in Pentothal, which was cleverly promoted using a rather playful strategy of exotic postcards to approach potential buyers. R.B

This book is based on the performance Batsong, rehearsals for an audioplay, which took place at APF LAB in New York, March 2009. This performance was an attempt to tell the story of a female singer, plagued by the inability to hear her voice objectively. I wanted to depict a narrative about failed perspective through sound but, before we began, had no idea how to develop a situation to render this failure. Using scattered pages of dialogue, monologue, actions and instructions I'd written—along with lists of objects for imitating sounds, one small room and a stationary recording device with one microphone—four of us met for eleven consecutive days at the improvised soundstage to make noise. Each player fulfilled a role, by taking on an action or emotion, setting or sentiment, through sound effects, music and dialogue as we rehearsed. Scenes were played over and over and over again until we were so lost that, time and again, only the sound of footsteps down the sidewalk offered some sense of resolve. After the performance, I transcribed the 22 hours as best I could. This document is comprised of edited excerpts from that transcription. It bears the chronology of its realization, but other than that, the scenes were not performed in any specific order. The reader may open or close this book at any point.

SANDAKER VGS - Portrait of a Norwegian High School

Sandaker School was designed by architect Finn Bryn and first used in 1959. At the time the school was finally completed in 1964 it was one of the largest and most expensive schools in Norway. The school was a crowning achievement for Oslo Municipality, due to its architecture and to the educational strides it signified. Sandaker was an experimental school for trying out new ideas to develop a better school model. The motto was and still is : A school for everyone, with a social and pedagogical focus on the individual student, regardless of background. The school's functionalist architecture has been put to the test of time. Universal access and new ventilation requirements have prioritized practical solutions over aesthetic concerns. The buildings also testify to a lack of maintenance by Oslo Municipality. Today, Sandaker School offers educational programs at the high school level for both trade specialization and for college preparation, with approximately one hundred employees and places for nearly six hundred students. The school has regional responsibility for hearing-impaired, and it offers special education programs for students with learning disabilities. Sixty-five percent of the school's students are language minorities. All told, very few high schools in Norway have a student body that is as diverse as Sandaker. Recently, Oslo Municipality has passed legislation to transform the entire school into an elementary school in 2012, and Sandaker's high school students will be moved into new facilities in Nydalen along with Grefsen high school students. I have come to know a number of students and employees at Sandaker high school during the past two years. I have been fascinated by the strong social engagement and enthusiasm that distinguishes the school and I hope that this book conveys some of this character. My heartfelt thanks are extended to Sandaker School for interest and participation in my project. Congratulations on your 50-Year Jubilee !

Dance International Europe Now is a dance theatre group formed in 2008 by artist Keren Cytter. The evolving ensemble is composed of an increasingly intricate inter-play of theatrical genres and visual mediums. In this way D.I.E. NOW should be thought of as a ghetto. Blurring boundaries between dance, spoken text, scenario, mime and even video, the diversity of its methodology is matched by the variety of nationalities and artistic practises from which its members are drawn. Gathering inspiration from forerunners in all the fields of live entertainment : Diversity, Yvonne Rainer, Pina Bausch, Samuel Beckett, Disney on Ice, Sascha Waltz, Bat-Sheva dance group, Michael Jackson, the dark world of Nang Yai or the exotic rhythms of Lambada, D.I.E NOW is a uniquely explosive dramatic experience, not without its subtleties.

With a reflexive glance D.I.E. NOW tests the borders between theatrical ceremony and performance art and willfully obscures performer-audience relations, whilst breathing vitality into hackneyed forms with mesmerizing sincerity.

Amalgamation and economy, wit and unbearable grace characterize D.I.E NOW's contribution to a new era of performance art.
