Carter Mull, Carter Mull’s Figure, Image, Armor @ onestar press
From February 11 2015 to April 10 2015

Carter Mull’s presentation at onestar press allows him to show his studio artist’s books for the first time in their ten year history, simultaneously giving himself more to the system of art while also opening up a not before seen delicate, vulnerability in the practice.

In addition, selecting fragments from his artist’s books, Mull has created a new series of small scale drawings that build out a kind of shell or armor out of digitally produced commercial aesthetics and art system marking, functioning as a support for his book page, auto-poetic drawings.

Mull states that "as an individual subject walking through the door and onto the field of art, I bring with me a process that is both material and conceptual. This process, found in my artist’s books can enter the field in any medium..."

This same language of armor or surface to support manifests itself as both recto and verso in the sculpture and display work on view in the artist’s show. You can also view Carter Mull’s artist’s book TYPIST published by onestar press (2014).
