Im(material)

From Berlin and Paris to Miami Beach and beyond, the artist Jonathan Monk has teamed together with onestar Paris to present Im(material), a specially conceived installation revealed during the week of UNTITLED, Miami Beach 2018. Within the actual booth at the fair, 18 unique works by the artist are “discoverable” when the viewer scans the QR codes on display.
The nature of Monk’s installation engages the public by underscoring the importance of imagination and collaboration; from works being conceived across borders between artist and publisher to asking viewers to access the works of art via virtual interaction, the artist uses perception as a tool to project value onto the intangible by proxy. Following this notion, the installation at UNTITLED, Miami Beach 2018 ultimately stands to speak for itself rendering both artist and publisher obsolete, save for the welcoming presence of a smile dancing on air.
