Each of these 10 unique mirrors ”reflects” upon a selected page from the book, plucking petals off the past to reveal the impossibly thorny stems of city names while celebrating the multilingual, carnivalesque complexity readily eclipsed today by nationalist struggles for simplicity and permanence.

onestar press happily presents three accompanying works by Slavs and Tatars in conjunction with the presentation of LOVE ME, LOVE ME NOT: CHANGED NAMES (Mirror Version):

Behind Reason (2012)
A series of prints on the overlooked story of mysticism within modernity, made on the occasion of Beyonsense, Slavs and Tatars' solo exhibition at the Museum of Modern Art (New York) in 2012.

To Beer or Not to Beer (2012)
This wall painting "restores the existential gravitas to the low brow, frat-boy riff of the original Shakespearean quote, the question asked is to drink a beer or not to drink a beer? For a Muslim, this question touches upon identity, faith, and community in addition to the simple equation of consumption and pleasure."

Hymns of No Resistance: Stuck in Ossestia with you (2010)
Originally conceived as a performance of cult and classic pop songs adapted to address issues of territorial dispute, language and geopolitics within greater Eurasia, this limited edition folio features the music sheet and lyrics for Slavs and Tatars’ Stuck in Ossetia with you adapted from “Stuck in the middle with you” by Stealers Wheel.
