In Berlin in the spring of 1998 I found a small leatherbound notebook at the flea market in Tiergarten. The notebook, from 1957, contains the stories, poems and jokes of a thirteen year old named Hellmuth Puhlman. The project, The Pirate is based on a translation of the longest story, Der Pirat.
