The Weight of references

The Weight of references is a collection of images that I had gathered over the years for my own personal delight and inspiration.
The title of this book refers to the dichotomy that an element of reference may have upon my creative practice – either as a point of departure or, conversely, as an obstacle. I recently reviewed these images and discovered many unpredicted traces of use and manipulation carried over from the moment when I had extracted them from their original sources.
This book is an attempt to illustrate various tensions experienced while working with these elements.
