“Don’t Take My Word for It” is not an endorsement of one book or another. It’s a bracket of books written by first generation participants - soldiers, journalists, academics and activists. We are currently leaving that brief moment in time when those who were there were the ones to write it down. A young US soldier at the very end of the war would now be at least 60 years old.
